Web Application for Graphical Visualization of Geospatial Time Series
Web Application for Defining Graphical Objects on a Map
Tlčina, Andrej ; Škarvada, Libor (referee) ; Hynek, Jiří (advisor)
The goal of the bachelor thesis is to create an authoring system that will help users to create thematic maps with custom geographical objects and custom generic datasets. This bachelor thesis presents an authoring system that provides tools for creating simple and complex geographical objects. The system allows users to import their datasets, containing generic data, like data about sales, wages, population. The data, contained in mentioned datasets, can be mapped to created geographical object using an identifier. The bachelor thesis is an extension of the project Geovisto, which uses predefined geographical objects for data visualization. The extension will bring the possibility of creating custom graphical features or editing predefined ones, which can be used in other parts of the project.
Web Graphical Visualization of Hierachical Geographical Data
Malý, Vojtěch ; Burget, Radek (referee) ; Hynek, Jiří (advisor)
This work aims to create a tool that can be used in creating web geographic visualizations with the use of hierarchical relationships between geographical objects. This is done for example by disintegration or clustering of various administrative units such as districts or regions based on different zoom levels of the map. This will provide the user with additional options for creating more effective geographic visualizations that can show the displayed phenomena from different angles. Tool will also provide a user interface for downloading the data representation of geographic objects using API and will allow aggregation of data according to individual levels of the hierarchy. This tool is an optional part of Geovisto, which provides tools for the visualization of generic data in web browsers on various thematic maps.

The impact of the cartographic method on students' map skills level
Havelková, Lenka ; Hanus, Martin (advisor) ; Bláha, Jan Daniel (referee)
The presented diploma thesis focuses on the map skills' problematic, which is currently becoming widespread in the Czech research environment. In contrast to the previous empirical studies, this thesis is devoted to the thematic map skills and their level of development among students of grammar schools and geographically oriented branches of university studies. Due to the significant differences between used cartographic methods of visualization on thematic maps the main aim of this diploma thesis is to identify and explain used cartographic method's influence on the level of these important skills. To achieve this aim, it was necessary to focus on different parts of the curriculum (intended, implemented, learned) and to use several scientific methods because this topic hasn't been well established yet and therefore only few theoretical and empirical studies dealt with this specific issue. Firstly, the review of literature focused on thematic cartography, map skills and on identifying their level of development among students was done. Due to the lack of specialized resources the model of thematic map skills was created. This specific model was further used during didactic test's designing and also for its results' interpretation. Similarly for the creation of appropriate didactic test -...
